Meet The Team

SALT Practice Leader. Thomas A Smith is a tax partner and serves as the firm's SALT Practice Leader. He has over 19 years of extensive tax experience, and has worked with some of the largest companies in America.

His career began as an auditor for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for six years. Tom conducted sales and use as well as severance tax audits throughout Oklahoma and Kansas. While working for the state, he also conducted numerous training classes and testified as an expert witness for the State of Texas.

Tom began work in public accounting in 1996 and spent 14 years working for three "Big 4" Firms with bases in Memphis, Atlanta and Dallas.  Tom's experience includes serving clients in a variety of industries, with specialization in state tax audit defense issues. He is a certified public accountant in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
