Jim Taylor, CPA
Retired
Jim Taylor was a founding partner of Tullius & Taylor, later Tullius Taylor Sartain & Sartain, in 1990 where he helped build one of the largest and most highly respected independent practices in Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. Jim’s vision and relationship with David Hogan and other Hogan & Slovacek shareholders was instrumental in leading to the January 1, 2009 merger that formed HoganTaylor.
Jim most recently led HoganTaylor’s Assurance Services, believed to be the largest audit practice in the state in terms of number of CPA’s and total personnel. It was his vision and passion for excellence that led HoganTaylor to seek out the most advanced audit technologies available and that his team is among the best trained and contains the brightest minds. He is a staunch supporter of continual improvement and, consequently, HoganTaylor’s assurance group regularly exceeds the CPE credits required by the AICPA.
Jim served some of the most respected names in the financial institutions realm–Wilmington Trust and Bank of Oklahoma Financial Corporation–specializing in providing assurance services for specialized investment funds. Moreover, he was a recognized expert in serving publicly-held companies and organizations involved in the construction and oil and gas industries, in addition to serving one of the largest private community foundations in the country.
Also within Jim’s assurance practice area was the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan practice and the Nonprofit/Government practice, both of which were and still are considered leaders in their respective market niches.
Jim graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Accounting. He began his career in 1969 at Arthur Young & Company where he was an audit partner for seven years before going into independent practice.
In 2011, Jim was honored with an appointment to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC), which is responsible for advising the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on technical issues, project priorities, and other matters that affect accounting standard setting.
